The Deluge

With awful flooding in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, now there are 350 dead in Brazil, with more floods causing mudslides. Extreme weather appears to be attacking the world. Some people say that it was always thus and the fact that we have greater and faster communications now means that we all know about it as soon as it happens. Possibly. But some say that it is a sign of the more imminent threat caused by global warming.
The prolonged period of very cold weather and snow that Europe & the UK experienced since before Christmas is also attributed to a warming planet. I am inclined to agree with that and I think that it should be being taken more seriously than it is.

A Mad World

Shooting in Arizona results in 5 dead & a US Congresswoman shot in the head. Dreadful as it looks as though the 22-year-old male gunman was targeting the politician because of her Democratic liberal views. He is supposedly a troubled young man, a loner etc. Why did he have or have access to guns? Why can't America take a look at their gun laws and realise that they are wrong. The right of every citizen to carry arms might have been valid many years ago when defending their homesteads against enemies or animals but it simply doesn't make sense in the 21st century.   

Faint Hint of Spring

Heavy rain & high winds finally gave way to patches of blue, scudding clouds & a faint hint of spring. No news from docs as apparently she only does two days and didn't have time to view the ECG on Wednesday. So, phone on Monday. Already at dentist in the morning. Oh joys!

A visit to the doctor

After several days with mild chest pains, I took myself off to the GP. She suggested an ECG and a nurse was able to do it within the hour. I wasn't terribly reassured by her saying that their machinery didn't always work. Wonder how they can tell if anyone is really ill? If this shows nothing untoward, I can either see if it goes away or go for further tests. To phone Friday for result.

These thoughts are mine own! Simply how I'm feeling about things in my life and how events in general are impacting on me. Such a lot of things happening in the world at the beginning of 2011.
